We have exciting literary news!

The first publishing house in East Timor has just been inaugurated and the book Ikigai by Francesc Miralles and Héctor García will be one of the first books ever published in the Tetum language. As the literary agency representing this work, we couldn’t be prouder that Ikigai is part of such a historic moment.

The launch took place during a large public event in Dili, the country’s capital. During the event, a draft version of Ikigai was presented so attendees could get an exclusive preview. Although copies are not yet available, the first print run is already being produced in Indonesia and will arrive in Dili on May 30. From there, distribution to bookstores will begin.

This step is much more than just a publication: it’s a bridge between cultures, a commitment to reading in one’s own language, and a significant milestone for Ikigai, one of the most iconic books we represent.

It has sold more than 3,000,000 copies worldwide and has been translated into 65 languages, making it one of the most translated titles represented by our agency. That it will now also reach readers in East Timor is a true cultural achievement and an exciting step toward linguistic diversity and universal access to reading.
