I can’t believe we’re in Frankfurt again. Time flies, and as a literary agent, I’ve been attending this fair for many years; it is one of the most important events in our industry. However, I must confess that I’ve never been particularly fond of fairs. Still, every time I’m here, the experience makes sense. This is one of the few opportunities we have to meet in person with the people with whom we usually only exchange emails; those brief moments of conversation and personal connection are invaluable.
During these days, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and energy. The fair’s hallways are bustling with projects, whispers of new stories, and handshakes sealing agreements that will bring more books into the world. As an agent, I understand the meaning of a good title and what lies behind each proposal: the work, creativity, and effort of every author.
