September 1955. Roque, a young teacher who was once a difficult student himself, arrives at a school in the mountains of Seville with the hope to inspire his students to dream of a better future.
However, his aims and ideas, inherited from his childhood teacher Lali, clash with the strict educational machinery of the Franco regime and the ideals of the school’s principal, who soon becomes suspicious of him. The problem is that Roque carries a secret from his past: he is searching for something that was taken from him as a child, following the arrest of his teacher and his admission into a sinister boarding school, where, despite everything, he discovered that teaching can be an act of resistance.
