Xavier Vidal i Alemany (Alginet, La Ribera Alta, 1966) holds a degree in journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He has worked as a producer and writer for various radio programs (La Bisagra, La Ventana, Versió Rac 1, Els matins de Catalunya Ràdio) on RNE, Cadena Ser, Catalunya Ràdio, and Rac 1. He has also been a writer, screenwriter, digital coordinator, and assistant director for numerous television programs (Moros y Cristianos, Crónicas Marcianas, Banda Ampla, L’ou com balla, Còmics, Torres en la cocina, Obrim Fil, and La Gran Confusión) on TV3, RTVE, BTV, and Tele 5, as well as a technology reporter for the newspaper Ara.
He is co-founder and writing instructor at the Escriptorium School of Writing in Sabadell.
He has published the novels No em pregunteu per què and La partida del Cagat (Joan Santamaria Novel Prize) and Els dimonis del rosari (Mediterranean Narrative Prize Pare Colom 2020), as well as collections of short stories such as Un món a tres columnes, Els elefants interiors (7Lletres Prize), Destins inesperats (Recvll de Blanes Prize), Catàleg de mala gent (Josep Pasqual Tirado Prize for Short Fiction), L’escriptor i l’escombriaire (Helena Jubany Prize), and the anthology of prize-winning stories L’home que no sabia escriure cartes d’amor.
