Monia Presta was born in Turin, studied Psychology at La Sapienza University in Rome and has lived in Barcelona for more than fifteen years. She considers herself Italian and Barcelonian. She is a clinical psychologist, writer, creator of Strategic Integrative Therapy, sexologist, couple therapist and actress. She is also an international lecturer, trainer and pioneer of Theatre Therapy in Spain.
She is dedicated to spreading psychology and personal growth in different media: TV, Radio and Press.
She has regularly collaborated as an expert in the programme L’ofici de viure on Catalunya Ràdio for 12 years and in the first and second season 2017 and 2020 on TV3. She has been editor and presenter of the TV programme D.ra Amor y Psique, a programme about psychology, health, love, sexuality and personal wellbeing on LiveDinnerTV. International online TV.
She currently has her section el SofaSex de la Monia on Radio Nacional España 4-RNE in the afternoon magazine De Boca a Orella. She also collaborates in the programme Complementàries in Ràdio 4-RNE with her Consultorio Sexológico y de Pareja. Since 2006 she has collaborated with the programme Cel Obert on Ràdio 4-RNE.
She has collaborated regularly with newspapers and magazines La Vanguardia, El País, Marie Claire, Mente Sana, Psicologies, Psicología Práctica, Men’s Health and El Confidencial. She has written Psychology manuals for Isep Formación.
She is the creator of the first postgraduate course in Theatre Therapy in the whole state of the UDG. She teaches at Esad Eòlia, Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático.
She has trained thousands of professionals in Masters and Postgraduate courses in Psychology at the UOC, the UNED and the UDG.
She is the author of Apláudete a ti mismo with Planeta. A book that collects real stories of patients who have been able to overcome their problems with her method.
Actress and great lover of theatre, she wrote a theatrical tribute to Andrea Camilleri, with her play Seis personajes en busca de Camilleri directed by Elisenda Roca. Her first play was a great success at BCNegra 2014, the year Camilleri received the Pepe Carvalho Award. Camilleri himself, with whom she has had a relationship for years, congratulated her on the play.
She is considered a Master of Life in Catalonia and Spain by the Plataforma Mestres de Vida.
