María Reig (Barcelona, 1992) studied Journalism and a Master’s in Corporate Communication Management.
In 2018, after finishing her first novel, Papel y Tinta, she decided to self-publish it. She launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the marketing and communication plan she had designed for the release, and in less than 24 hours, she achieved her funding goal. The success of the campaign opened her the doors to the publishing world and to historical fiction. Papel y Tinta reached bookstores in January 2019, published by Suma de Letras. With it, she won the Debut Literary Prize “Un Año de Libros” from El Corte Inglés. Since then, she has published two other novels, Una promesa de juventud (2020) and Los mil nombres de la libertad (2022), and has sold over 100,000 copies in total.
The past few years, she has been balancing her work as a novelist with her History degree studies, with the goal of expanding her knowledge and refining her skills as a historical fiction writer.
