Gemma Artieda (Barcelona, 1971) has a bachelor’s degree in English and a PhD in applied linguistics obtained at the University of Barcelona. In 2014 her PhD thesis was shortlisted for the Christopher Brumfit Award. Currently, she develops educational products for teaching and learning English and is a lecturer at the University of Barcelona. She has published research articles on learning second languages in prestigious peer-reviewed research journals, such as International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism and System, among others, as well as chapters in books in the field. Of late, she finished the Fiction programme at the Creative Writing School of the Ateneu Barcelonès.
