Many new releases came out in March, and we saved a few to recommend just before summer vacation, believing they’re ideal for packing in your suitcase.

Pepe Müller‘s debut novel is a historical thriller set in the world of wine. Mystery and wine make a great match, expertly combined by the author, turning this novel into an addictive read in the style of Dan Brown. It’s a thrilling adventure that hooks the reader with puzzles, surprises, and action.

The story begins when Víctor Morell, a sommelier in decline, receives an unusual mission from an anonymous emissary: to find a unique bottle known among insiders as the Alchemist’s Wine. Missing for nearly two centuries, historical writings claim this wine grants unparalleled existential knowledge to its drinker. Víctor embarks on an uncertain and perilous journey that takes him from the vineyards of Priorat to the remote landscapes of Turkestan, via Paris, St. Petersburg, and the hills of Tuscany. Soon, he realizes he’s not the only one chasing this relic. As he competes with Sofia, a neuropsychiatrist convinced that the properties of wine alter consciousness, powerful pharmaceutical companies, corporate empires, and esoteric organizations are hot on their heels in an unrelenting race to seize it. But who among them will unravel the secrets of the Alchemist’s Wine? And what price will they have to pay for it?

This novel has all the ingredients for reader enjoyment while also educating about an increasingly popular world—the world of wine. So, I encourage you to read it because those of us who have are left wanting more.
