José Vicente Pascual (Madrid, 1956) is the author of an extensive fictional work — novels as well as short stories —, developed and published throughout the last three decades. Among his production, it is worth mentioning titles such as La montaña de Taishán (Azorin Award for Novels), El capitán de plomo (Café Gijón Award), Palermo del cuchillo (International Fiction Prize Alfonso XIII), El país de Abel (shorlisted for the National Critics Award, 2002), Juan Latino, Homero y los reinos del mar (shorlisted for the Caja Granada Prize for historical novels), La diosa de barro, and Los fantasmas del Retiro. His last released novel, La hermandad de la nieve, obtained the awards Hislibris to the best author and best historical novel of the year in 2012.
He has written several theatrical adaptations and leveled retellings of classic works, as well as some plays of his own, such as Juan Latino, released in 2000 by Tito Junco Martínez’s company, represented in nine countries, and still in the repertoire of the Circuito de Jóvenes Actores de UNEAC (Cuba). He is a member of the Institutum Pataphysicum Granatensis, with the status of Transcendent Satrap and Epiphanic Inquisitor, among other dignities.
